Coming from Southern Florida Emily Haggerty is currently seeking her MFA in Costume Design and Production at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Emily obtained a BA in Theatre from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL. While working for her degree Emily worked at several local companies in Pensacola, such as Pensacola Opera, both on the production and backstage work. She continued her work outside of school in Brevard, NC, where she spent two summers working as a stitcher and on wardrobe for the Janiec Opera Company, and in Newark, DE, where she spent nine months as a first hand and crafts artisan with the Delaware REP. At The University of Alabama she has so far served as costume designer for three shows, and as a design assistant for two, branching out into dance and also taking the opportunities to work with the School of Music and their Opera Department. In her second year of graduate school she spent her first summer out at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, UT, as a crafts artisan exploring her love of shoes and their construction.
